The Corporate Housing Providers Association or CHPA is the association which created the first industry accreditation for the corporate housing industry. They issue the designation of CCHP which means Certified Corporate Housing Professional. This establishes the standards of measurement of the knowledge of an employee in the corporate housing profession. This certification reflects the dedication of professionals involved in the corporate housing industry to the highest standards of service. It also assures clients that what they will receive is professional and courteous service from highly trained, skilled and knowledgeable professionals.
Corporate housing according to CHPA is a furnished house, condominium or apartment made available for let or rent on a temporary basis, usually for a month or more. Basically it is a travel industry cooperating industry, but it is much more because housing solutions has been provided by this segment for nearly two decades to a wide variety of clientele, not just tourists and visitors.
The CHPA version of the corporate housing definition includes a description of the typical needs of the corporate housing unit namely: furniture, private bath, lines, full kitchen, house wares, electronic equipments and basic utilities. Corporate housing is about cost-effectiveness for long-term housing needs of companies, although corporate housing industry members also provide short-term housing or 30-day minimum requirements of individuals other than company workers and employees. The corporate housing providers are businesses that receive payment for providing corporate housing.
Corporate housing clients will find that everything they basically need, whether for short-term or long term basis are already provided for in the housing unit, when they move in. The utilities have already been paid for; the local telephone service has already been installed together with the expanded basic cable when they occupy the corporate housing unit.
A standard package of an apartment or townhouse for corporate housing can be customized according to the request of the client and his specific needs but will basically include the following furnishings:
- Kitchen: microwave, refrigerator, stove, dinette set with four chairs
- Living room: sofa, two end tables, one coffee table, loveseat, two lamps, one 25” TV and stand
- Bedroom: Optional queen size bed or twin beds, one night stand, one lamp, and one dresser with mirror
The prices for corporate housing will generally depend on the number of bedrooms, the location of the property and the length of stay of the clients, among other things. While some units will charge high-end rates, they will still be considerably cheaper than hotel rates of the same range of quality and service. In addition, corporate housing provides a full kitchen complete with amenities and gives clients more space and more privacy.
Unlike hotels, corporate housing clients pay a single monthly payment or get their company billed directly. For corporate professionals, the corporate housing approach makes for a more productive work schedule and peace of mind away from the corporate environment of the home office.
In this globally competitive environment and technological advances in transportation and communications where factories and subsidiaries are being located in new cities, corporate housing will continue to provide world-class housing solutions for individual and corporate clients worldwide.
